African Community Services’ core programmatic work is aimed at assisting immigrants to become self-sufficient by securing employment and achieving social stability for themselves and their families. These are two key related factors in reaching self-sufficiency. Becoming employed is critical for economic self- sufficiency, while addressing many of the social stability issues that result from resettling in a new culture eliminates barriers to finding and keeping a job. ACS uses a combination of education, coaching and advocacy to implement this strategy
